Janemba (ジャネンバ Janenba) is the main villain in the movie Fusion Reborn. He is a demon of pure evil whose power was unleashed when a clumsy teenage ogre from Hell carelessely made the spirit cleanser explode. Janemba's first form is a giant, yellow, and repugnant demon (almost similar to Majin Buu) who is very childish. In this form he does not know any other words other than his own name which he repeats. Fat Janemba has many unique abilities like opening portals, creating doppelgangers, and even spawning miniature versions of himself. Despite his power he transformed when Goku more than stood a chance against him when he was Super Saiyan 3. Janemba's second form is about human size (though very tall), has red skin covered by violet armor, and his voice is deeper and more demonic. In this form he doesn't speak at all, but laughs maniacally and is built for fighting. Like his previous state, he has many unique abilities like teleportation, being able to destroy the fabric of interdimensional gates (which break off into little glass pieces that target his enemy), and can generate a sword. This Janemba was too much of a match for Goku and even Vegeta upon arriving to help him. Goku and Vegeta then fuse into Gogeta, who puts up more than a fair fight, and defeats Janemba, and is restored back to the little ogre boy whose body was taken over by him. Janemba is voiced by Tessho Genda in the Japanese version, and Jim Foronda (first form) and Kent Williams (second form) for the English version.
Majin Boo (魔人ブウ Majin Bū), spelled "Majin Buu" in the Funimation anime dub and translated as "Djinn-Boo" in the Viz Media manga, is a fictional character and the final antagonist of the Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama. He is introduced in chapter #460 Majin Boo Appears?! (魔人ブウ出現か!? Majin Bū Shutsugen ka!?) first published in Weekly Shōnen Jump on June 3, 1995. Majin Boo is a magical life form created by the evil warlock Bibbidi that terrorized galaxies by destroying entire planets, millions of years before the events of Dragon Ball take place. He was temporarily sealed away and brought to Earth, however, Bibbidi was killed and Boo hidden. During the series, he is revived by Bibbidi's son Bobbidi in order to carry on his father's plan to conquer the entire universe. Majin Boo was rated by Wizard magazine as the 40th greatest villain of all time, the only anime or manga character from Japan to make the list.
Majin Boo has several different forms, each with a different appearance and personality, however, all are pink creatures with an antennae on their head and several holes/pores on both sides of their heads and on their arms. They have a rubbery body that can regenerate instantly from any wound, separate parts of it from themselves and control them independently, and can even completely restore themselves from vapor. Boo can also heal damaged beings, and can absorb other organisms by enveloping them with his body or eating them, the latter done by using his signature attack that turns people into food such as candy. When first introduced he is overweight and wears gloves, boots, a vest and a cape. He is very naive and childlike, taking joy in fighting and scaring people. Throughout the series, he is always referred to by either Majin Boo or simply Boo, no matter what form he is in. However, each form has been given their own names in guidebooks, video games or by fans, in order to distinguish between them. When Boo expels the evil inside him, it takes on a taller and much skinnier, frail form referred to as "Pure Evil Majin Boo" (魔人ブウ 純粋悪 Majin Bū Junsui Aku?), or "Evil Buu" in English fandom. When this Boo absorbs the fat one, they become what is referred to as "Evil Majin Boo" (魔人ブウ 悪 Majin Bū Aku), or "Super Buu". This form is much more muscular and stronger, and losses the vest and gloves, now but wears long-legged pants. Personality-wise, he is more intelligent than the other forms and is described as "pure rage". This intelligence allows him to plan ahead for the opportunity to absorb Gotenks and Piccolo, and later Gohan. After absorbing the first two, his antennae grows, he forms five full-fingers and wears the vest typical of all "fused" characters, when he absorbs Gohan, he wears his dōgi top and undershirt. The last form shown, referred to as "Pure Majin Boo" (魔人ブウ 純粋 Majin Bū Junsui) or "Kid Buu", is actually Boo's original, and appears when Gohan, Gotenks, Piccolo and the fat Boo are removed from his body. Appearance-wise, he is the same as the first Evil Majin Boo form only smaller, however he is the most reckless, living only to destroy. He is called "evil incarnate" and regarded "most difficult" by Lords of Lords. Even after Pure Majin Boo is killed, the fat Majin Boo lives on Earth now completely-kindhearted and known as Mr. Boo (ミスター・ブウ Misutā Bū). In the anime, Boo's "Evil" and "Pure" forms' designs differ from the manga in that they both always have five fingers. Boo, Bibbidi and Bobbidi take their names from the song "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" in the Walt Disney movie Cinderella. The Daizenshuu 2: Story Guide guidebook says that Majin Boo was modeled after Toriyama's editor at the time, Fuyuto Takeda. Dragon Ball Z: Broly – The Legendary Super Saiyan, known in Japan as Dragon Ball Z: Burn Up!! A Close Fight - A Violent Fight - A Super Fierce Fight (ドラゴンボールZ 燃えつきろ!!熱戦・烈戦・超激戦 Doragon Bōru Zetto Moetsukiro!! Nessen Ressen Chō-Gekisen), is the eighth Dragon Ball Z feature movie. The original release date in Japan was on March 6, 1993 at the Toei Anime Fair, and was dubbed into English by FUNimation Entertainment in 2003.
The film is the first of the "Broly Trilogy", its popularity having spawned two sequels: Broly: Second Coming and Bio-Broly. Broly is the supervillain in the eighth, tenth, and eleventh Dragon Ball Z movies. He is born with a power level of 10,000, a power level greater than most elite Saiyan warriors. He is mentally unstable partially due to the crying of the infant Goku in the incubator next to him when they were born, partially due to threatening events pertaining to his birth date, and partially because of his extreme power level. He eventually becomes the "Legendary Super Saiyan", although his destructive tendencies are quelled by a special control device created by scientists for his father, Paragus. After Paragus lures Vegeta, Goku, and their companions to another planet, Broly recalls Goku and goes into a rage, destroying the control device and becoming the unstoppable Legendary Super Saiyan. He effortlessly pummels Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan Vegeta, Super Saiyan Gohan, and Super Saiyan Future Trunks, as well as Super Namekian Piccolo, before killing his father. It is well known that his power level increases endlessly while in super saiyan form. He is eventually defeated, but he manages to make his way to an escape pod. He later lands on Earth and goes into a frozen state until the crying of Goten awakens him. He is defeated by Goku, Gohan and Goten, with help from Trunks, though blood samples make their way into the hands of an industrialist, who creates a clone called Bio-Broly. The clone eventually wakes up and becomes mixed with bio-liquid, transforming him into Bio-Broly. He is eventually killed by Goten, Trunks, Krillin, and Android 18. He is voiced by Bin Shimada in the Japanese films, and Vic Mignogna in the English dub. Broly has an unbelievable power and will destroy anything in his path. Cell (セル Seru) is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama. He makes his debut in chapter #361 The Mysterious Monster, Finally Appears!! (謎の怪物、ついに出現!! Nazo no Kaibutsu, Tsui ni Shutsugen!!) first published in Weekly Shōnen Jump on February 24, 1993. Cell is an artificial life form created using cells from several of the main characters in the series. During the course of his appearance, he undergoes several transformations that require him to absorb Androids #17 and #18.
After Kazuhiko Torishima, Toriyama's former editor during Dr. Slump and early Dragon Ball, expressed dissatisfaction with first Androids #19 and #20 and (later) Androids #17 and #18 as villains, Toriyama finally came up with Cell. Toriyama has stated some kind of regret regarding the design of Cell, as it was tedious to draw all the little spots on his body. In addition, he did not initially plan for the character to be able to transform, but give him this ability after his then-current editor Yū Kondō described Cell as "looking ugly". Cell originally evolves from a cicada-like form into his Imperfect Cell (不完全体セル Fukanzentai Seru) form, which is still insect-like in appearance. Both his first form and his second Semi-Perfect Cell (半完全体セル Hankanzentai Seru) form have a long tail that ends in a stinger-like appendage and allows it to absorb other organisms. The tail recedes under his wings in his final Perfect Cell (完全体セル Kanzentai Seru) form, although he uses it to spawn Cell Juniors (セルジュニア Seru Junia), minuscule childlike versions of himself. Cell is an artificial life form created by Doctor Gero's computer from cells of different warriors, possessing the genetic information of the Saiyans (Goku and Vegeta), Piccolo, Freeza and King Cold in an underground complex below Gero's secret research laboratory. Cell's design is to evolve into the perfect being which can be achieved only by absorbing Androids #17 and #18. But in the alternate future he is from, the two Androids were deactivated. After he kills the Trunks from his timeline, Cell regresses into an egg while using Trunks's time machine to travel back four years before the Androids appeared. After hatching and metamorphosis into an insect-like humanoid referred to as Imperfect Cell, Cell kills off various people and absorbs them to increase his power in preparation to absorb the Androids. Though originally a match for the regular untrained Super Saiyan, Cell is unable to defeat Piccolo. After he manages to absorb the energy of more than 600,000 people, Cell defeats Piccolo before he finds and absorbs Android #17 to evolve into a large and more human-like form referred to as Semi-Perfect Cell. However, Cell quickly gets beaten by Vegeta. But after absorbing Android #18 regardless of interference, Cell assumes his more human-like Perfect Cell. After quickly defeating Vegeta, Cell fights Trunks but defeats him as well. Wanting to test his abilities and enjoying the fear he causes in others, Cell decides to hold his own fighting tournament known as the Cell Games to find a worthy opponent to face him intending to destroy Earth when he wins. In the first round, he fights Goku. Although Goku puts up a decent struggle, he quits upon realizing Cell is stronger than him. Cell is then pitted against Gohan to his surprise. Though Gohan puts up a good fight, Cell takes the upper hand quickly due to Gohan's general dislike of hurting others, no matter how evil they are. Gohan warns Cell that if he is pushed too far, he will lose control of his power and likely kill him with no remorse, but Cell decides to make Gohan angry by shattering Android 16 to pieces and setting a group of Cell Juniors on the rest of the fighters. Gohan's rage begins to swell, and when Cell mercilessly steps on Android #16's head, Gohan transforms into a Super Saiyan 2 and overwhelms the Cell Juniors and Cell himself who ultimately takes so much damage that he regurgitates #18 and reverts to his previous form. In desperation, Cell tries to self-destruct against the Earth, but Goku sacrifices himself to ensure that Cell self-destructs elsewhere. Cell, however, returns to his Perfect Form after realizing that the genetics of Saiyans and Namekians have made him nearly immortal with the ability to reach further perfection as he tries to destroy the world and find stronger opponents elsewhere in the universe. Luckily, Gohan, with Goku aiding in spirit, manages to destroy Cell once and for all after a climactic Kamehameha struggle. Once Trunks returns to his future timeline and destroys Androids #17 and #18, he is confronted by the Cell of his timeline, planning to kill Trunks and steal his time machine to travel to a time when the androids still exist. After asking questions about how Trunks knows about him, the two fight. Trunks quickly becomes a Super Saiyan and effortlessly defeats Cell, ending his reign of terror for good and finally bringing peace to his future. In later filler episodes of the anime, Cell makes numerous cameo appearances, usually as comic relief. In these appearances, he is shown causing trouble in Hell along with Freeza, King Cold and the Ginyu Force, having somehow been permitted to keep his physical body despite his wrongdoings. He is defeated by Goku and Pikkon and sent to prison, and he is later seen watching Goku's battle with Majin Boo on a crystal ball, openly wondering why Goku quit against him and then went on to fight Boo, whom he acknowledges to be a stronger opponent than he was. Freeza (フリーザ Furīza?), spelled Frieza in Funimation's English anime dub, is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama. Freeza makes his debut in chapter #247 Dark Clouds Swirl Over Planet Namek (暗雲うずまくナメック星 An'un Uzumaku Namekkusei?) first published in Weekly Shōnen Jump on November 6, 1989.
Despite not appearing until the manga's second half, Freeza is widely considered to be the most iconic antagonist from the series due to effectively serving as the catalyst of many of the events depicted in the story, such as Goku's arrival on Earth, the Saiyans landing on Earth, and subsequently the main characters going to planet Namek. At the time of his introduction, he is revered as the most powerful being in the entire universe, though is later outclassed by future villains Cell and Majin Boo. He is also directly responsible for the apparent murder of Bardock, the genocide of the Saiyan race, and the second death of Kuririn, arguably making him Goku's most personal and significant enemy. Abilities Freeza is first seen moving at superhuman speeds and flying unaided in volume 9. He also appears to have quick reflexes. He is also highly resistant to all but the hardest of physical blows. Additionally, Freeza possesses extreme superhuman strength, along with energy production and projectilization. He has demonstrated being able to destroy planets with relative ease, and has also been shown capable of surviving in the vacuum of space. Freeza also possesses telekinesis, being able to lift opponents without touching them and cause them to explode. Although in other media such as video games, several techniques are added to his arsenal, the techniques that Freeza uses in Toriyama's manga and its anime adaptation are Death Beam (デスビーム Desu Bīmu), a sharp piercing beam from his finger, Death Ball (デスボール Desu Bōru), a large energy sphere he used to destroy planet Namek, and 100% Death Ball (100%デスボール 100 Pāsento Desu Bōru), its name being revealed in the video games. Forms and transformations Freeza's power, including his enhanced strength, became so great over time, that his body could not comfortably contain it, and a series of physical transformations were developed that limit his actual strength. While changing shape from his "first-form", each alteration builds on the previous. In all, Freeza demonstrated three transformed states, each with increasing power (some larger than others and each resulting in different physical attributes). First form In his weakest form, Freeza is a relatively short humanoid with a large chestnut-shaped skull and two horns. He also has a tail with a spiked end, as well as having three talon-like toes. Freeza wears the same upper-body armor and shorts that many of his subordinates (including the Saiyans) are shown to wear, and while traveling, often gives the appearance of weakness by exclusively using his hoverchair for transportation, leaving his henchmen to do his "dirty work". Though frail in comparison with his succeeding forms, Freeza still boasts sufficient force to destroy planets, stating during his battle with the Namekian fighter Nail that his power level is 530,000. While shifting to his next stage, Freeza breaks his battle-jacket, revealing a natural white armor covering his chest and shoulders. Second form His second form is similar to his father, much larger, both in height and muscle mass, Freeza claiming to have at least doubled his power to 1,000,000 in this state. He also grows longer horns, which now instead of protruding sideways from his head curve sharply upwards into near right angles. Third form Freeza's third form is again more brutish, with an extremely elongated skull (like an Alien). His facial features contort and change, with his nose melding into his mouth to form a crude beak. His original horns recede and are now white in color, erupting in pairs along the length of his head. His tail tip, which had been cut off by Kuririn, did not regenerate and he now has a slight hunch. Although his tail was surprisingly not regenerated, the rest of his wounds disappeared as if nothing ever touched him. Final Form Drastically differing from his previous transformations, in his final, true form Freeza instead regresses, becoming shorter and less bulky. His previous form shatters, causing his horns and spikes to disappear with his physique becoming entirely streamlined. The lines of color and stripes present on Freeza before completely disappear; his skin is now a pure, solid white with purple sections on his head, shoulders, forearms, chest and shins. All injuries taken in other forms are healed. This is the form that allows him to release his full potential. He later powered up to 50% full power in order to easily beat Goku, in which he did. He was powerful enough at this phase to survive Goku's Genki-Dama with few scratches, besides a damaged tail. Freeza is also able to attain 100% power, his muscle mass becoming engorged compared to his previously sleek frame. This is the peak of Freeza's natural potential, and the maximum amount of power his body can output. However, to obtain this power his body is subjected to a muscle strain, which slowly lowers his energy, and slowing him down until he can't compete with Goku anymore. This transformation is therefore not suitable for prolonged combat, and then Freeza had tried to finish the fight as quickly as possible destroying the planet Namek and hitting Goku with his best shots. Mecha Freeza Due to Namek's huge explosion, what remained of the still-living Frieza was salvaged and rebuilt with cybernetic enhancements by scientists under the order of King Cold, this form is referred to as Mecha Freeza (メカフリーザ) in video games. The whole of the lower half of his body and right side of his face are replaced, as is his left arm from the shoulder down, with scarring and metal accoutrements covering what little was left of his organic self. These enhancements allowed him to exceed the limits of power imposed by his fully organic form, and it is stated that he was more powerful than ever. Even though it is implied that this would make him a good opponent for a well-trained Super Saiyan, his full power in this form is never shown, since Trunks catches him by surprise and blows him up. Son Gohan (孫 悟飯), better known as simply Gohan, is a fictional character and secondary protagonist from the Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama. Gohan is introduced as the first son of the main protagonist Goku and Chi-Chi in chapter #196 Kakarrot (カカロット Kakarotto) first published in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine on October 24, 1988. Gohan is the first Saiyan/Human hybrid in the series.
Gohan's name comes from the Japanese word "gohan" (ご飯, lit. "cooked rice" or "meal of any sort"), is a continuation of the naming scheme of foods by Toriyama. Rice, being a grain, is not normally considered to be a vegetable, even though it is a common food. However, as the word "vegetable" is a culinary term, and not a botanical term, the name can also continue the naming scheme for Saiyan characters, which derives names from puns on vegetables (Saiya being an anagram of the word yasai, meaning "vegetable"). In conceptualizing for Gohan's character, Toriyama originally included glasses or a jacket to his apparel, and commonly, his hair is spiked up as seen in the final design. With the ending of the Cell arc, Gohan was meant to replace his father as the main protagonist, however, Toriyama later decided against it. Abilities As a child, Gohan is depicted with an immense amount of hidden potential, which at first only revealed itself when he experienced fierce rage or distress. The vastness of this potential is shown consistently throughout the series as he ages and learns to master his powers from constant training and battles, such as when he becomes the first Saiyan in the series to become a Super Saiyan 2, the direct successor to the Super Saiyan transformation, during his battle against Cell. Gohan's potential is then fully unlocked by Old Kaiō-shin, which sees his power level rise to new heights, capable of easily overwhelming the seemingly invincible Majin Boo. Gohan can also freely manipulate his ki to fly using Bukū-jutsu (舞空術, "Air Dance Technique"), or concentrate it into beams of ki blasts, such as the Kamehameha or the Masenko (魔閃 Masenkō, lit. "Demon Flash"). Gohan also possesses superhuman strength, as well as superhuman speed and reflexes, as seen during his training with his younger brother Goten. Gohan can also use his ki in a defensive manner, such as generating protective energy shields. Vegeta (ベジータ Bejīta) is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama. Vegeta first appears as a major antagonist in chapter #204 Goodbye Son Goku (さようなら孫悟空 Sayōnara Son Gokū), published in Weekly Shōnen Jump on December 19, 1988, subsequently becoming the first major antagonist of the series' second anime adaptation, Dragon Ball Z. A member of the Saiyan royal family, an extraterrestrial race of warriors that the series protagonist Goku also belongs to, Vegeta is obsessed with surpassing Goku's strength and originally sought to use the Dragon Balls to gain immortality. Afterwards, Vegeta unites with the heroes reluctantly to thwart a greater threat, becoming an antihero. In spite of this change, he remains a dangerous rival to Goku for most of the remainder of the series.
Abilities Up until his tail was cut off, Vegeta could turn into a gigantic monkey-like creature called an Ōzaru (大猿, lit. "Great Ape") by looking at a full moon, an ability common of all Saiyans with tails. Vegeta has the ability to create and enhance attacks with the use of ki. He also has the ability to use Bukū-jutsu (舞空術, lit: "Air Dancing Technique"), which enables him to fly. Constant training and his Saiyan heritage have given him vast superhuman strength, durability, speed and reflexes. Vegeta is known to give names for his various energy attacks. In his early appearance, Vegeta is seen to use attacks similar to several of the protagonists of the series, such as a Ki Disk Razor (気円斬 Kienzan), a two fingered laser-like disk capable of cutting through solid objects, and a ki wave similar to Goku's Kamehameha. One of his better known attacks is the Galick Gun (ギャリック砲 Gyarikku Hō), although he uses it only once in the series proper; during his battle against Goku in an attempt to destroy the Earth. He later develops the Big Bang Attack (ビッグ・バン・アタック Biggu Ban Atakku) and the Final Flash (ファイナルフラッシュ Fainaru Furasshu) techniques, which are much more powerful than his older energy attacks. Vegeta's most commonly used tactics in the series is when he bombards an opponent with an array of small ki blasts. He is not known to have an official name for this attack, but it is usually called Rapid-Fire Energy Balls (連続エネルギー弾 Renzoku Enerugī Dan). In Dragon Ball GT, Vegeta displays a powerful new attack, entitling it the Final Shine Attack (ファイナルシャインアタック Fainaru Shain Atakku), where he uses his left hand to fire off a massive beam of green ki that widens with distance. Because of his immense strength and power, Vegeta, along with few other characters from the Dragon Ball franchise, can destroy entire planets with single attacks if he intends to. Vegeta also possesses several transformations that greatly enhance his abilities to varying degrees. He gains the ability to transform into a Super Saiyan and, through training, can further transform into advanced states of Super Saiyan as the series continues; "Ascended Super Saiyan" "Ultra Super Saiyan" and Super Saiyan 2. Vegeta can also fuse with Goku and create a warrior who has the combined power and skills of both. One method is by using the Potara Earrings presented to Goku by the Old Kaiō-shin. This results in a 'potara fusion' creating Vegito (ベジット Bejitto, "Vegerot" in Viz Media's manga translation). The other method, appearing only in the anime, is by performing the 'Metamorese Fusion Dance', which creates Gogeta (ゴジータ Gojīta). Goku (孫 悟空, Son Gokū), born Kakarot (カカロット, Kakarotto), is the main protagonist of the Dragon Ball metaseries created by Akira Toriyama. He is the adoptive grandson of Grandpa Gohan, the husband of Chi-Chi, the father of Gohan and Goten, the grandfather of Pan, and later the great-great-grandfather of Goku Jr.
Cheerful, courageous and also quite naive, Goku is a Saiyan originally sent to Earth as an infant with the mission to destroy it. However, an accident alters his memory, causing him to grow up pure-hearted and later become Earth's greatest defender, as well as the informal leader of the Z Fighters. Throughout his life, he trains hard and strives to be the greatest warrior possible, while at the same time using his amazing strength and skills to uphold peace. The name "Goku" means "awakened to emptiness"; the Go syllable means Enlightenment, and the Ku syllable means Sky or Emptiness. In the Namek Saga, while training in the Capsule Corporation spaceship, it is seen that his name is written with a "h", Gokuh, when he has to go to repair the ship. Goku's full name, Son Goku, is the Japanese name for Sun Wukong, the main protagonist in the Chinese legend Journey to the West, on whom Goku is loosely based. The Dragon Ball universe began as a loose adaptation of the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West, with Goku starting off as more or less a parody of Sun Wukong the Monkey King. Similarities between the two include Goku's prone for mischief as a child (due to his innocence), possession of Nyoibo (Sun Wukong's staff that can fill the entire universe), and Flying Nimbus (the magical cloud the Great Sage rode on in Journey to the West). As the Dragon Ball manga continued its run, he was able to develop differently, eventually turning out to have similar origins. Goku's design was based on Tanton, of Toriyama's prototype manga Dragon Boy and Tongpoo, from his other manga The Adventures of Tongpoo. When Akira Toriyama started his first draft of Dragon Ball he originally planned on making Goku full monkey to make it faithful to Journey to the West. During Toriyama's second draft he wanted to make Goku a full human dressed in sailor clothes that rode a flight mecha instead of the Flying Nimbus. Toriyama's 3rd and final draft of Goku was to have him human looking with a monkey tail. Goku's Saiyan birth name, Kakarot, is a pun on "carrot". Likewise, all pure-blood Saiyans that appear in the series are named using vegetable-related puns. Goku's family are all named after root vegetables (burdock, radish, and carrot). Comically, in Dragon Ball, Goku says he hates carrots when fighting against Monster Carrot. POWER Goku is one of the most powerful characters in the series, able to take on many powerful opponents and hold his own. As a baby, Goku was stated to have a power level of 2, but by the time he had grown into a child his power was 10 (going to 100 when he briefly uses the Great Ape form). When he competed in the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament, Goku's power had increased to 180 thanks to his training. After drinking the Ultra Divine Water to combat King Piccolo, Goku's power level increased to 260. By the time of his battle with Raditz, his power level had become 416. After training with King Kai in the Other World, Goku's power level had increased to be over 8,000 (or mistakenly over 9,000 in the English dub) and he could use the Kaio-ken technique to further increase his power level. Thanks to training, Goku's power had increased to 90,000 by the time of his battle with the Ginyu Force. It then takes a leap to 3,000,000 thanks to a Zenkai, and it increases to 150,000,000 while utilising his Super Saiyan form against Frieza. Dragon Ball Z: The Anime Adventure Game states that Goku's base power rose to 8,000,000 by the time of the Trunks Saga. Goku's power continued to increase throughout the series thanks to numerous trainings, though it is possible that Goku reached his peak power in Base and Super Saiyan forms after training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, as he tells Vegeta that further training in the chamber would be a waste of his time as he could not get any stronger. Though he later achieves further forms that increase his power (Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, etc.). It is stated by Beerus in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods that Goku's base form does not have enough power to defeat Frieza at full power. Later in Battle of Gods, Goku absorbs the godly power of Super Saiyan God even after returning to base form, allowing him to keep it and use it in his base and Super Saiyan forms; though he is not as strong as a Super Saiyan God, he is able to take the form without the help of six other Saiyans at this point. According to the series' original author Akira Toriyama, in terms of power, Goku as a Super Saiyan God would be a 6, Beerus would be a 10, and Whis would be a 15. In Dragon Ball GT, Goku in his Base form, he is able to match General Rilldo, a being stated to have similar power to Kid Buu, during their fight. In terms of physical strength, Goku is shown to be able to lift two tons on each limb while training on King Kai's planet, which had 10x the gravity of Earth. When transforming into a Super Saiyan, he can lift 10 tons on each limb easily. In Dragon Ball GT, Goku is able to lift up half a city while in his Super Saiyan 4 state, though it leaves him panting doing so. TECHNIQUES Kamehameha. Goku's signature move throughout the series. Goku first learns the move after witnessing Master Roshi use it to save the Ox-King and Chi-Chi's castle from an inferno (but only ends up destroying it, along with a nearby mountain). Throughout the remainder of Dragon Ball, Goku continues to master the Kamehameha and uses it in nearly every battle during Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. Kaio-ken. Goku learns this technique after his death against Raditz while training under King Kai. He uses this attack numerous times throughout early Dragon Ball Z up until his ascension to a Super Saiyan. Spirit Bomb. Arguably Goku's most powerful technique, taught to him by King Kai during his training for the upcoming battle against Vegeta and Nappa. Goku uses the Spirit Bomb numerous times, most notably against Frieza and Kid Buu. It is only against the latter that the technique actually works in the manga storyline. Instant Transmission. Goku learns this technique on the Planet Yardrat after his battle with Frieza. This technique allows him to teleport to any location so long as he can find an energy source to home onto. He uses this technique frequently throughout the series, one of his most valuable abilities. Dragon Fist. Goku uses this technique on Hirudegarn to finish him off in the 13th Dragon Ball Z movie. He also uses this in GT: against Super 17, as well as Eis Shenron and Omega Shenron, though the latter regenerates. FORMS Great Ape. Like all Saiyans, Goku can transform into a Great Ape (Oozaru) when he sees the full moon while he possesses his tail, though every time it was not at will. Because this tail was removed permanently in the main series by Kami when restoring the moon, this transformation was never taken by Goku again until Dragon Ball GT (in which it is shown very briefly before the full transition into Golden Great Ape), making it his least used Saiyan transformation. False Super Saiyan. During the movie Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug, Goku achieved this form in an attempt to defeat Lord Slug. Through rage of being beat down, Goku unleashed a huge amount of aura and became a false-like Super Saiyan, which gave him more speed and strength for a few seconds enough to thrash Lord Slug. In this form, he looks similar to his Kaio-ken form, but he becomes bulkier, except his eyes are whited out like Broly's, and his hair stands up and gains a red tint. Super Saiyan. Goku achieves this powerful transformation in a rage after Frieza kills Krillin. Frieza had destroyed the Saiyans out of his fear of their growing power and the idea of a possible Super Saiyan. As a result of defeating Frieza, Goku avenges both the Saiyan race and the death of his best friend Krillin. Ascended Super Saiyan. After having witnessed Vegeta and Trunks emerging from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber (Room of Spirit and Time), Goku concludes that surpassing the normal Super Saiyan form may be more possible than initially suspected, and enters the room to train himself and Gohan. After teaching Gohan to become a Super Saiyan, Goku is able to achieve this form alongside the further extreme of the form known as Ultra Super Saiyan. However, although this new powerup would not take as much of a heavy hit on his speed as the successor would, he decides that staying transformed like this demands far too much ki to be spent, and so decides that the regular Super Saiyan form is the best suited for combat, and makes a plan for him and Gohan to master it before they leave the chamber. As a result, after under 20 hours spent in the room (Vegeta and Trunks had spent a whole day each, and would spend another prior to the Cell Games), he and Gohan emerge as Full Power Super Saiyans. As a result of this and the new discovery of the most powerful Super Saiyan state at the time, Super Saiyan 2, this form is never used by Goku again, and Vegeta and Future Trunks soon follow. Ultra Super Saiyan. Like the Ascended Super Saiyan form, Goku achieves this form in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber while training with Gohan. Although apparently stronger than Cell in this state, Goku told Gohan he could not defeat him because Cell was much faster, because "all the power in the world would do no good if you can't even hit the guy." Instead of persevering harder to simply increase power output, Goku decides that simply mastering the Super Saiyan form to suppress its downsides and make it a natural state is the best way to fight and gain power. This form is never used after its initial unlocking along with Ascended Super Saiyan, as a result. Full-Power Super Saiyan. After realizing the weaknesses inherent to the higher grades of Super Saiyan, Goku concluded that mastery over the basic Super Saiyan form would be more advantageous and went on to improve his endurance in that form, thus achieving this state. Super Saiyan 2. Although it is unknown when exactly Goku achieved this state of Super Saiyan, it is assumed Goku achieved this transformation in the Other World where he could put unlimited energy into his transformation. It was first seen when fighting Majin Vegeta's own Super Saiyan 2 form in their epic battle during the Majin Buu saga. Goku later transforms into this state before showing the Super Saiyan 3 transformation to Majin Buu and Babidi, and again in an anime filler where he begins to fight Kid Buu. Goku uses the form during the movies Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn and Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon. In Dragon Ball GT, he can be seen briefly transforming into a Super Saiyan 2 before he transforms into a Super Saiyan 3 during his second fight with Super Baby Vegeta. When Goku transforms into a Super Saiyan 2 he has some noticeable changes, such as his hair growing longer and becoming even more spikier, making his hair more defined than his other previous Super Saiyan forms, along with disappearing hair strands surrounding the forehead which are exclusive to this form, like Gohan (but in a different way; for reference, see the picture). He also gains electricity in his aura surrounding his body, and his aura grows markedly larger and more vibrant in both the anime and manga. Super Saiyan 3. Goku achieved this level in Other World, where he could put more energy into his transformation. Goku is first seen using this transformation against Majin Buu during the Majin Buu Saga. Once in this form, Goku was able to easily overpower Majin Buu in his first form and stood up to Kid Buu for a fair amount of time. However, the transformation is extremely draining in terms of energy, as it cut Goku's time left on Earth from hours to a stated thirty minutes after performing the transformation for a short time. When attempting to gather enough energy to defeat Kid Buu during their final battle, he was unable to sustain it as he had not taken into account the strain overcoming his living body, and soon reverted back to his base state. Altogether, these heavy disadvantages make it impractical to use the transformation out of the afterlife. Super Saiyan God. Super Saiyan God is a Super Saiyan form even beyond Super Saiyan 3. Goku achieves this form in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, and uses it against the God of Destruction Beerus. When Goku powers up to this form, he has flame-like aura. He then appears with his hair glowing red and with a shape similar to that of his base form, red eyes, slightly thinner, and he has a flame-like aura. The power of this ultimate warrior excites even the God of Destruction Beerus. The form allows Goku to sense godly ki and he can absorb attacks by consuming ki, but he reverts back to his regular Super Saiyan form due to the form's time limit. Kid (GT). Emperor Pilaf unintentionally wishes Goku back into a child in the beginning of Dragon Ball GT. In this form, it is harder for Goku to maintain more powerful forms, such as Super Saiyan 3. While a child he was able to get his tail back, with the help of Old Kai, which not only allowed for easier access to the third Super Saiyan form, but eventually permitted him to transform into Golden Great Ape and Super Saiyan 4. At the end of the GT series, Goku is again seen as an adult without a tail, though in one of the endings to the show, he is seen with a tail in adult form facing the rest of the cast. Super Saiyan (Kid). After being wished into his childhood form, Goku can still transform into a Super Saiyan. However, he is unable to maintain the form for as long as he can in his adult body (in much the same way that he lost the ability to perform the Instant Transmission technique when being downsized), though for far longer than his Super Saiyan 3 form. Super Saiyan 2 (Kid). Goku uses this form as a kid only once in the series, to guard against an attack by General Rilldo. Also, he briefly appears in the form while powering up to transform into Super Saiyan 3. GT Goku has this form in the arcade game Dragon Ball Heroes. Super Saiyan 3 (Kid). After being wished back into his childhood form, Goku is still able to transform into a Super Saiyan 3. However, he is only able to maintain the form for a few minutes, even with the Saiyan Tail assisting him in conserving his energy reserves. This form is not enough to defeat Baby Vegeta, so Goku is forced to recruit help from Old Kai, which leads to his Golden Great Ape transformation. Because Goku gains the ability to access the Super Saiyan 4 transformation soon afterwards, this transformation is never again used. Golden Great Ape. Goku achieved this form in Dragon Ball GT, after Old Kai helped Goku to grow back his tail which allowed him to once again transform into a Great Ape. When he looked at the Earth during the Baby Saga, its sufficient substitute Blutz waves allowed him to take this form, a combination of the Super Saiyan state and the classic Great Ape transformation. Upon regaining control, he later transformed into Super Saiyan 4, his strongest form yet. Super Saiyan 4. This form is achieved by Goku after achieving the Golden Great Ape state and being calmed down by Pan. The overwhelming power of this transformation is apparently great enough to overcome the Black Star Dragon Balls' power making Goku's transformation into a child by Red Shenron. The spell is only dispersed during the transformation, however. In addition to him being turned back into an adult temporarily, Goku's overall appearance changes yet again. His tail is easily visible, the hair is longer than when in his normal state (not nearly as long as a Super Saiyan 3, though), his eyes become lined (much like Vegeta's did when he was a Majin in the Majin Buu Saga), his eye color is now golden yellow, and red fur covers almost all of his body from head to toe. His clothes change from his childhood garb, leaving him only dressed below the waist (excluding his armbands). As a Super Saiyan 4, Goku is able to easily surpass all but the most powerful enemies in the final parts of Dragon Ball GT. But at the end of the last episode of Dragon Ball GT, when Goku is an adult again, his tail disappears again and it is unknown if he can ever transform to this state from then on. FUSIONS Vegito. Vegito is the product of a Potara Fusion between Vegeta and Goku. With unrivaled power, Vegito is one of the most powerful beings in Dragon Ball Z and is created as a desperate plan by Old Kai to stop the powerful Super Buu, when he was winning against Ultimate Gohan after absorbing Gotenks and Piccolo. It has been theorized that Vegito could easily attain the form of Super Saiyan 2 as well as Super Saiyan 3. However, neither was necessary to finish his task of defeating Super Buu, as his Super Saiyan state alone berthed enough in battle that he single-handedly pummeled Buu blithely without even needing to use his fists or any effort. It was obvious he had the physical power to maintain such feats, but he only appeared for a short time before his strategy to deliberately be absorbed into Buu's body (whilst keeping a barrier on to avoid being assimilated into his being) resulted in his diffusion, after which Vegeta crushed his earring, vowing to never fuse with Goku again regardless of the circumstances. Goku follows suit reluctantly, and as a result, despite Old Kai's offer for the two to merge into Vegito again and take care of Kid Buu in a flash, the two decide to fight alone, and Vegito is never again seen. Goku's relaxation, and Vegeta's strategic mind enabled Vegito to be quite an intelligent fighter without being overcome by arrogance as Vegeta alone would be but possessing the ruthlessness to kill Super Buu that Goku would lack. In addition, Vegito also possesses the immense power and speed of both Goku and Vegeta amplified to great degrees, as well as the tactics and skill of both. He is very similar to Gogeta, who is another fusion of Goku and Vegeta. Gogeta. Gogeta is one of the most powerful characters introduced in the series. Like Vegito, Gogeta was an act of desperation, though this one was to stop the powerful demon of the 12th Dragon Ball Z movie, Janemba, rather than Majin Buu. Gogeta annihilated Janemba with hardly any effort, disposing of the demon in seconds. He derives his strategic battle tactics and skill from Vegeta, and his massive power and energy potential from Goku. However, due to his extraordinary power, the fusion will only last for 10 minutes (so far only confirmed for his Super Saiyan 4 form), as opposed to the usual 30 minutes, though this has been proven ample time to defeat almost any foe many times over.
